Corpus of Venerable Tai Xu's Buddhist Studies

標籤:

The Corpus of Venerable Tai Xu’s Buddhist Studies in the CBETA repository is a monumental collection capturing the life and teachings of venerable Tai Xu 太虛 (1890–1947), a pioneering reformer of modern Chinese Buddhism, known for advocating “Humanistic Buddhism” that integrates buddhist practice with everyday life and modern society.

After his passing, disciples compiled his talks and writings into a comprehensive collection, covering the framework and system of Buddhist teachings, the reconstruction and development of the monastic order, and the critique and integration of contemporary ideologies. Spanning over seven million Chinese characters, it includes 1,448 articles across 20 volumes, organized into “Fa (法, doctrines), Zhi (制, disciplinary rules), Lun (論, treatises), and Za (雜, miscellaneous)” categories.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Yin-shun Cultural and Educational Foundation (印順文教基金會) for granting permission to include the Corpus into the CBETA Buddhist Electronic Text Archive.

Researchers and practitioners can now easily access these texts online, discovering the breadth and depth of his influential thought:
